Since Lavender's death in September 2010, her daughter Katharine has taken over running College Farm B&B.

"Lavender has done B&B for years and looks after her stupendous listed house single-handedly. Over afternoon tea, she tells colourful stories of the house and her family's local history: from 1349 until the Dissolution of the Monasteries the house was a college of priests and there's stunning Jacobean panelling in the dining room.

Bedrooms are big and lived-in, two of the bathrooms are tiny, all have lovely views over the garden with its pingos (ice age ponds). Come for history and architecture and friendly Lavender, and breakfast from the farm shop down the road."  (Alastair Sawday)

Ample car parking, free WiFi.
